Northeast Georgia Cancer Care Lab Recognized for Quality
ATHENS, Ga (July 9, 2009) – Northeast Georgia Cancer Care’s clinical laboratory has met all the criteria for excellence as established by the national accrediting agency, COLA (formerly, the Commission on Laboratory Accreditation).
This emphasis on quality is extremely important in providing reliable test results – an essential element in assuring excellence in patient care. COLA accreditation is given only to laboratories that apply rigid and consistent quality standards, demonstrate constant accuracy in proficiency testing and pass a rigorous on-site laboratory survey.
COLA, the premier non-profit organization promoting clinical laboratory quality and excellence, is approved by the federal government, the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, and is sponsored by the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians- American Society of Internal Medicine, the American Academy of Family Physicians, and the American Osteopathic Association.
