Cancer Counseling Services

Please let your physician, the front office staff, a nurse, or a radiation therapist know if you would like to make an appointment with one of our counselors. Counseling services are fee-based.

We offer individual, couples, and family counseling in a safe, caring environment in order to assist with:

  • Coping emotionally if diagnosis, illness, or treatment becomes overwhelming or difficult to handle alone
  • Problem-solving treatment and illness related concerns
  • Learning to better cope with worry, nervousness, sadness, irritability, anger, and stress
  • Learning to manage uncertainty
  • Addressing emotional needs of children and adolescents whose loved one has been diagnosed with cancer
  • Support regarding pain management, fatigue, hair loss, and body image concerns
  • Problem-solving potential social support needs
  • Issues related to sexuality and intimacy
  • Post-treatment/survivorship concerns
  • Grief/bereavement/Issues of loss

Navigating the Journey

Additionally, our counselors offer an education program for patients and caregivers designed to enhance coping throughout the cancer journey. Navigating the Journey sessions involve education on ways to cope with a cancer diagnosis and treatment in a manner that promotes your overall health and well-being. This program is available by appointment to assist you with:

  • Effective communication with loved ones and your medical team
  • Self-advocacy skills
  • Use of relaxation techniques
  • Accessing local and national support resources
